04 / A LIFE IN MUSIC
I’m Demitri DARR, a composer, songwriter and music producer with more than 30 years creating music, working across musical theatre, film and studio production.
My work moves between orchestral scale and intimate detail. From the first musical idea to the finished arrangement, the story comes first.
30+YEARS CREATING MUSIC
05 / DARRSONIC RECORDING STUDIO
A hands-on process. Space to experiment, refine and follow an idea wherever the music takes it.
My music moves across genres — from intimate songs and contemporary pop and rock to orchestral works and musical theatre. Each project begins with its own story and finds its own sound.
FROM THE FIRST NOTE
At the piano, a melody begins to take shape. In the studio, it opens into a wider world of voices, instruments and textures — always in service of the story.

Two periods.
One question. What remains when time has taken everything else?

04 / THE POET & THE HOURGLASS
Orologio da polvere The Hourglass
The seventeenth-century Italian poet Ciro di Pers turned clocks and hourglasses into images of human life: time measured, passing, impossible to hold.
More than twenty-five years ago, Demitri DARR encountered his poetry. A few lines became a melody. That first encounter gradually grew into ETERNO — a world of orchestra, choir and soprano.
Ciro di Pers studied in Bologna and later travelled to Malta as a knight of the Order of St John. Back in Friuli, he remained in contact with writers and scholars across Italy, including the Venetian Accademia degli Incogniti.
His writing moves between love, faith and the awareness of mortality. Clocks and falling sand give an everyday shape to the question at the heart of ETERNO: what can a human voice hold against the passing of time?

ETERNO / OPEN AIR CONCEPT
Ancient stone holds the memory of centuries. A living voice answers it.
This open-air staging concept brings Ciro di Pers’s poetry into a contemporary world of orchestra, choir, synthesizers and soprano. The choir inhabits the arches; light traces time across the walls. Sand, water and movement make its passage visible.
In the central encounter, the imagined presence of the poet meets the soprano’s voice — a dialogue across time.

PAGANINI · THE MAN BEHIND THE MYTH
Long before amplifiers, Paganini made virtuosity a public spectacle. His Vienna appearances in 1828 helped launch the European tours that turned a celebrated violinist into an international sensation.
Portraits, stage prints and caricatures reveal more than a musician: they show a public image taking shape. Admirers celebrated a modern Orpheus; others surrounded his talent with rumours of the supernatural.
In PAGANINI ROCKS, that distance between the artist and the legend becomes Alex’s dilemma. Is he learning from Paganini — or disappearing into someone else’s image?
Historical prints meet an imagined contemporary stage. The archive informs the project’s themes; Alex’s encounter is a theatrical fiction.

LOVING · THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE STORY
Before the headlines, there were Richard and Mildred: a couple who wanted to make a home together in Virginia.
These are their real faces and the documents behind the story — a marriage license, then nine years later a telegram announcing that the judgment against them had been reversed.

FROM HISTORY TO THE STAGE
In exile from Virginia, Mildred writes to Robert Kennedy asking for help. A private wish — to return home with her family — begins its journey into public life.
That intimate impulse is at the heart of More Than Hope. In this staging concept, a table, a doorway and a pool of light hold the scene. Richard is close enough to hear, but the act of writing belongs to Mildred.
Handwriting rises across the scrims. A small room opens into a larger world: one woman’s words finding the strength to be heard.

CROSSROADS · WHAT WE CARRY FORWARD
David leaves behind more than an unfinished show. He leaves a silence between two branches of the same family — and music that his son can carry across it.
In Israel, Ariel’s inheritance acquires faces: Leah, the half-sister he has never known, and the generations whose lives shaped his father’s choices. With Dalia, the past begins to open towards a future of his own.
This is the particular heartbeat of CROSSROADS: a son bringing his father’s unrealised musical home, while discovering what home means to him.

Projected family photographs, remembered rooms and intimate encounters let three generations share one stage.

THE PRODUCTION HORIZON
A story of family, memory and belonging — connecting audiences in Israel with Jewish communities in America through music and theatre.
In Jerusalem, Rebecca Crown Hall at the Jerusalem Theatre forms the starting point of that vision: a close encounter with the characters, their music and the family they become.
In America, the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills offers an inspiring vision for that next chapter. Owned and operated by Temple of the Arts, this historic Art Deco theatre brings Jewish cultural life together with music, drama and film — a resonant setting to explore for a future production of Crossroads.
